Complexity analysis of Klein-Gordon single-particle systems

The Fisher-Shannon complexity is used to quantitatively estimate the contribution of relativistic effects to on the internal disorder of Klein-Gordon single-particle Coulomb systems which is manifest in the rich variety of three-dimensional geometries of its corresponding quantum-mechanical probability density. It is observed that, contrary to the non-relativistic case, the Fisher-Shannon complexity of these relativistic systems does depend on the potential strength (nuclear charge). This is numerically illustrated for pionic atoms. Moreover, its variation with the quantum numbers (n, l, m) is analysed in various ground and excited states. It is found that the relativistic effects enhance when n and/or l are decreasing.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, Accepted in EPL (Europhysics Letters

Spanish marketing chain for kid’s meat: from breeder to wholesale

    Get PDF
Farmers and wholesalers from different Spanish regions were enquired about the way in which they buy or sale kids or kid’s meat. Productions areas did not match with marketing points. There were great differences between regions in the farms’ size of the farms. The most frequent distance from farm to the slaughterhouse was 300 Km. Farmers sold more expensive and they obtained higher profit margin with kids than with lambs. Wholesalers buy and sold more expensive kid’s meat than lamb. Traditional butchers’ shops and restaurants were the main wholesalers’ customs. Marketing chain became more complex by the intervention of a quartering agent. The main way in which meat was sold was as whole carcasses. When they were sold by pieces, leg was the most demanded one. Kid’s meat presented a seasonal consumption, associated to holidays and celebrations

Efecto del peso al sacrificio y de la raza en la calidad instrumental y sensorial de la carne de cabritos lechales

    Get PDF

Some features of the statistical complexity, Fisher-Shannon information, and Bohr-like orbits in the Quantum Isotropic Harmonic Oscillator

The Fisher-Shannon information and a statistical measure of complexity are calculated in the position and momentum spaces for the wave functions of the quantum isotropic harmonic oscillator. We show that these magnitudes are independent of the strength of the harmonic potential. Moreover, for each level of energy, it is found that these two indicators take their minimum values on the orbitals that correspond to the classical (circular) orbits in the Bohr-like quantum image, just those with the highest orbital angular momentum.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

Consumer Acceptability of Dry Cured Meat from Cull Ewes Reared with Different Linseed Supplementation Levels and Feeding Durations

    Get PDF
Dry cured meatcecina''is a traditional, although not well-known, dry product that could add value to cull ewes. Because of this, the aim of the study was to assess consumer acceptability of cecina'' from cull ewes finished with different levels of linseed (5, 10 or 15%) for different periods before slaughtering (30, 50 or 70 days). One hundred and fifty consumers evaluated colour acceptability, fatness and odour, flavour and overall acceptability of cecina'' from those 9 treatments. Additionally, habits of consumption of cured products and preferences for different species and willingness to pay for cecina'' were investigated. Linseed supplementation was identified as the most important factor for sensorial attributes (p < 0.01), with the preferred cecina'' being that with 5% and 10% supplementation. Feeding duration only modified the fatness acceptability (p < 0.01). Cecina'' from small ruminants is a product consumed occasionally by the majority of participants; however, it presented an adequate overall acceptability. Consequently, elaborating cecina'' would be a feasible strategy to improve the income of farmers

Influence of transport duration and season on sensory meat quality in rabbits

Little is known about the effect that journey duration and position on the vehicle have on the sensory aspects of meat quality in rabbits. In this study, 156 rabbits were transported by road in a commercial truck for 1 h or 7 h in one of three replicates in summer or winter. After slaughter, slices from the left side of the longissimus dorsi muscle were vacuum-packaged and chilled at -18 ºC until the sensory analysis to assess odour, tenderness, juiciness, fibrousity, greasiness, and flavour intensity. Overall, the journey duration had a significant effect (P<0.05) on tenderness, fi brousity and overall liking of the meat, being better the results of the meat samples from the short transport treatment. Season had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the intensity of off-odours, being obtained the highest scores in summer transports. There was a significant interaction effect (P<0.05) of journey time and season on tenderness and meat odour. Therefore, meat from short journeys in summer was the most tender, and meat from long journeys in winter was the toughest. The position on the truck (in multi-layered cages) do not influence sensory meat quality. Therefore, rabbit sensory meat quality can be affected by transport time.Funded by CICYT Ministry of Science and Technology of Spain. Validation of photographs usage to evaluate meat visual acceptability of young bulls finished in feedlot fed with or without essential oils

    Get PDF
Forty ½ Brown Swiss × ½ Nellore crossbred bulls were distributed into three experimental groups: CON – diet without addition of essential oils; CLO – diet with average 5, 000 mg/animal/day of clove essential oils and CIN – diet with average 5, 000 mg/animal/day of cinnamon essential oils to evaluate three methodologies of visual acceptability: with steaks directly in Trays and Sequential and Random photos. Seventeen consumers evaluated visual appearance of meat using a 9-point structured hedonic scale. CON group presented higher shelf-life than essential oils groups. Trays and Sequential scores were similar in the majority of days; thus digital images could be used to evaluate colour evolution. However, Random photos resulted in lower scores and slower acceptability decrease than Trays and Sequential photos (p < 0.05) among the second and fifth day of display. Random photos presented a lower and more constant standard deviation than Trays and Sequential photos (p < 0.01) indicating that this methodology promoted a higher standard situation for meat colour evaluation

A Generalized Statistical Complexity Measure: Applications to Quantum Systems

    Get PDF
A two-parameter family of complexity measures C~(α,β)\tilde{C}^{(\alpha,\beta)} based on the R\'enyi entropies is introduced and characterized by a detailed study of its mathematical properties. This family is the generalization of a continuous version of the LMC complexity, which is recovered for α=1\alpha=1 and β=2\beta=2. These complexity measures are obtained by multiplying two quantities bringing global information on the probability distribution defining the system. When one of the parameters, α\alpha or β\beta, goes to infinity, one of the global factors becomes a local factor. For this special case, the complexity is calculated on different quantum systems: H-atom, harmonic oscillator and square well.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure
